  4.                 Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.
  5.         
  6.         Magick may be described as a system of communication, a  language 
  7.         used  exclusively between the conscious (the logical  mind),  and 
  8.         the  subconscious  (the  thinking mind).   During  dialogue,  the 
  9.         Magician's  objective  is  to use his or  her  logical  mind  and 
  10.         convince  the thinking mind into revealing a method by  which  to 
  11.         directly   access  the Super Conscious, the  Higher  mind...often 
  12.         called; God, Christ Consciousness, Godhead, The Higher Self, etc.  
  13.         We will refer to it as THE HOLY GUARDIAN ANGEL.
  14.              
  15.         Every  2,000 years or so we enter into a New Age.  At this  time, 
  16.         the  subconscious changes, and so does the language to  which  it 
  17.         responds.   Once this shift has occurred, the Magician must  make 
  18.         the necessary adjustments if he wants to keep the dialogue  open.  
  19.         Should  you  fall  into  the  rut  called  "Tradition"  (as  many 
  20.         Magicians  do) you will no longer be able to effect those  subtle 
  21.         forces  which  you are trying to stimulate because you  will  not 
  22.         understand them.
  23.         
  24.         In 1904 we entered such an Age.  The Angel Aiwas announced   that 
  25.         Horus,  the hawk-headed god, had taken his seat at the throne  of 
  26.         the  Gods.   The  Aeon of The Child was upon us.   As  with  most 
  27.         children,  it is natural for the rebellious attitude towards  the 
  28.         old  ways,  and  the insistence on creating  new  ways  of  doing 
  29.         things.   The New Aeon brought with it a new Law;  "Do what  thou 
  30.         wilt  shall be the whole of the Law" and "Love is the  law,  love 
  31.         under   will".   This  unprecedented  Law  demands   the   utmost 
  32.         discipline.  It suggests that we all have a purpose, a Will;  and 
  33.         that  we  have  a responsibility to follow  that  Will,  live  in 
  34.         harmony with the rest of the Universe, and be who we truly are.
  35.         
  36.         By  virtue  of  this  Law,  not only are  we  freed,  but  it  is 
  37.         emphasized that we protect our originality.  The Magical  formula 
  38.         for the New Aeon must be structured in such a way that it can  be 
  39.         distinguished  from the old formulae, yet it must be  capable  of 
  40.         overwhelming tolerance in order to allow great diversity.    
  41.         
  42.         The  purpose of  this book is to help you  to  discover  the  new 
  43.         language  by which to communicate to your Self, it will help  you 
  44.         to further understand the books already on your shelves, and most 
  45.         importantly;  it  will give you a foundation on which  to  create 
  46.         your  own,  unique methods.  Methods that will work  better  than 
  47.         anything  learned  from any book; because you  created  them  for 
  48.         yourself.  Although one will find ritual and instruction in  this 
  49.         book,  it is presented solely for the purpose of  presenting  the 
  50.         reader  with some effective procedures.  It is my hope  that  you 
  51.         will   familiarize  yourself  with  the  mechanics  involved   in 
  52.         Ceremonial  Magick,  thereby  becoming fit  to  design  your  own 
  53.         rituals.  
  54.         
  55.         Originally, I wrote this book for my three children, and for that 
  56.         reason  you  will  find that I have written  it  in  the  "second 
  57.         person";  I  hope this informality does not offend  anyone.   The 
  58.         purpose of this little work is not to show great literary  skill, 
  59.         but  rather  to shed light on a difficult  subject  further  made 
  60.         obscure  by  authors  looking for  scholarly  recognition.   This 
  61.         limited  volume  does not contain "all that there  is".   No  one 
  62.         could boast about having written such a book.  You should  simply 
  63.         view this as a primer.
  64.         
  65.         The  only thing that I ask from the reader, is that they  keep  a 
  66.         diary.   This  will serve you by creating a "book of  spells",  a 
  67.         reference that you can review to charter your progress along  the 
  68.         Path.  It will also serve those that come after you by  providing 
  69.         them  with insight to an otherwise unknown approach.   No  matter 
  70.         how  swiftly you have progressed if you have left nothing to  the 
  71.         next   generation  of Magicians, then your  contribution  to  the 
  72.         Great   Work   will  have  been  limited  to   its   evolutionary 
  73.         representation. 
  74.         
  75.         The  Path  is a great road to travel, it has been  frequented  by 
  76.         many  great  names:  Aleister Crowley,  MacGregor-Mathers,  Dion 
  77.         Fortune,  Helena Patrovna Blavatsky, Eliphas Levy, to name but  a 
  78.         few.  You will see their footprints along the way.  It is my hope 
  79.         that this volume will encourage you to find your own bearing,  so 
  80.         that you may open up a road not previously charted.
